THE BODY of a man who was last seen in the water close to St Davids has been formally identified as Bernard Hoepffner, a French translator.
A large search, on both land and in the water, was launched last month after emergency services received reports of a man in the water.
Mr Hoepffner had lived in St Davids in the 1980s.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We can confirm the body found washed ashore at Tywyn beach in south Gwynedd is that of Bernard Hoepffner.
“His next of kin have been informed.
“Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.”
His body was found on June 9 in Tywyn.
